Service in port

The locations where you can get in touch with The Swedish Seamen´s Service

Swedish Seamen’s Service provides support to seafarers in Swedish ports and at selected international locations where the need is greatest. Our work is carried out mainly through onboard outreach, transport services, seamen’s clubs, and a variety of activities for crews. Click on the stations below for more information.

Other ports

Other ports were certain service can be offered through collaborations with the ports and local Seamen´s missions.

In Sweden, we operate Rosenhill Seamen’s Center in Gothenburg, Kaknäs Seamen’s Club in Stockholm, and Johannisborg Seamen’s Club in Norrköping. In Malmö, seafarers are welcome to relax at the municipal recreation facility Kockum Fritid.

These seamen’s clubs reflect Sweden’s commitment to fulfilling the MLC 2006 convention — adopted by the ILO — concerning seafarers’ welfare at sea and in port. Swedish Seamen’s Service also participates in the International Committee on Seafarers’ Welfare (ICSW).

The service in Sweden is available to seafarers of all nationalities. It includes ship visits, information, transportation, and cultural and leisure activities such as sports and excursions.

Abroad, in the ARA area, we focus primarily on crews on Swedish‑flagged vessels and the service is carried out in close cooperation with Swedish and Nordic seamen’s missions. Key services include ship visits, distribution of books and Swedish magazines, transportation, excursions and sports activities. Our local representative also supports Swedish crew members on foreign‑flagged vessels.

Through various partnerships, we can also offer book exchanges in many ports around the world.
